Reading will try to stop a two-match losing streak when they host Notts County at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. The Royals have slipped to 14th place in League One after consecutive 2-1 defeats to Brentford and Cambridge United.
Their recent form has been inconsistent, with three wins and two losses from the last five outings. The 5-0 victory over Mansfield Town on September 2nd shows their potential, but defensive lapses have cost them in the last week. Paudie O’Connor scored a consolation in the most recent home loss to Brentford, a game where Reading conceded twice in the first half.
Notts County arrive in 16th position, having lost their last match 1-0 at home to Bradford. Their last five games include just one win, alongside three draws and that defeat. The Magpies' 3-4-2-1 formation, used against Bradford, will test a Reading defence that has conceded seven goals this season.
Manager Rubén Sellés is expected to stick with a core of experienced players. The last starting lineup featured Joel Pereira in goal behind a back four of A. Ahmed, P. O'Connor, C. Masterson and H. Roberts. The midfield duo of Lewis Fraser and Charlie Savage will be key to regaining control. Top scorer Jack Marriott, with six goals already this campaign, leads the attack.
