Reading FC forward Sean Patton ruled out for 12 weeks with fifth metatarsal fracture Reading FC striker Sean Patton is set to be on the sidelines for at least 12 weeks after picking up an injury during pre-season. The young Irish forward featured in pre-season under Leam Richardson and travelled with the squad to Spain in July for a training camp. Patton played more than 130 minutes against Farnborough, La Liga side Getafe and Woking before suffering the injury, which Richardson has confirmed will rule him out for “at least 12 weeks”. “Sean will be out for 12 weeks or so. “He’s got a fracture in his fifth metatarsal, so he’s got a really big foot injury. He got caught at Woking, I think it was within that game, and then a bit of a stress response thereafter. “Disappointing, so he’s going to be out for some time.”
In other striker injury news, Jack Marriott is back training with the first-team squad, though Richardson is “still very mindful” of the forward as he manages a recurring back issue which also saw the prolific goalscorer miss a chunk of the latter half of last season. “Jack’s been training now for a few days. “He’s been on the grass but he’s still very mindful of the injury that he had. “So we’ll kind of watch this space and see how he responds to the last couple of sessions going into the weekend, and then we’ve got a full week leading up to Luton as well.”
