Blackpool ends trial for ex-Reading man Andy Yiadom

Blackpool FC has ended the trial spell of former Reading defender Andy Yiadom, who joined the club ahead of their pre-season camp in Girona. Yiadom, a 34-year-old right-back, was released by Reading at the end of his contract last month.

Andy Yiadom's trial spell with Blackpool FC has come to an end following several weeks with Ian Evatt's squad. The defender linked up with the Seasiders ahead of their pre-season camp in Girona at the backend of last month, before featuring in friendlies against both AFC Fylde and Tranmere Rovers.

Why it matters for Reading

Yiadom is a free agent after being released by Reading at the conclusion of his contract last month. In 253 appearances for the Royals, including 29 in League One last term, he scored four goals and provided 12 assists.

What comes next?

Blackpool head coach Ian Evatt has wished Yiadom well for the future following the end of his trial period with the club. Evatt said: "He did great for us, and I can't speak highly enough of him as a person and what he's done for us in pre-season so far. We're working through our recruitment targets, and they have to fit what we want and require as a football club, and what our playing identity is."

As of 27 July 2026, Reading FC is currently 12th in League One, with 63 points from 46 games, and a recent form of LDLLL. The team has scored 64 goals and conceded 60, with a goal difference of +4. They are 40 points behind leaders Lincoln in the title race and will face Blackpool in their next fixture on 13 February 2027.
