Andy Rinomhota is targeting momentum for Reading after a positive start to the League One campaign. The midfielder, who rejoined the club late last year, has featured in all four league games this term and believes the squad is finding its rhythm.
He spoke to BBC Radio Berkshire following a run of results that has lifted the side to 14th place on seven points. "I'm very happy to be back playing regular football," Rinomhota said. "A lot of our performances so far have been good, especially the Mansfield result which was very convincing."
Building on strong home form
Reading's season began with a defeat to Luton Town and a goalless draw at AFC Wimbledon. The team then responded with two emphatic home victories. They thrashed Mansfield Town 5-0 before securing a 3-1 win against Blackpool the following weekend, with goals from George Earthy, Kyreece Joshua Lisbie and Jacob Brown.
That sequence was halted by a 2-1 defeat away at Cambridge United last Saturday. Jack Marriott had given Reading the lead, but second-half goals from Liam Bennett and Kelland Watts secured the points for the hosts. The result leaves manager Leam Richardson's side six points behind early leaders Sheffield Wednesday.
Rinomhota's role
The 29-year-old Rinomhota made three appearances after returning to the club in the second half of last season. He has now established himself as a regular starter in the centre of the park, contributing to a team that has scored 12 goals in its opening five league matches.
His experience and energy are seen as key components as Reading look to climb the table. The team's recent form shows three wins, one draw and one loss from their last five outings.
Reading's next challenge is a home fixture against Notts County this Saturday. County currently sit 16th in the standings, one place and one point behind Reading. A full rundown of the upcoming schedule is available on the fixtures page. Securing another three points at the Select Car Leasing Stadium would solidify the positive foundation Rinomhota identified.
